So I asked my mom for some dates for a scholarship application essay about my life, and she pulled out the binder where she keeps all of our Christmas letters. Starting with 1987, two years before I was born. So I'm reading through them. It's so cool because I totally didn't know some of this stuff. Like my mom got a disease called Bell's Palsy in 1987 from a spider bite.
Here's some of the stuff about me from various years:
1989: 'Katie is an exceptionally pleasant baby, much to Louise's delight. She has worn much of the hair off of the back of her neck turning it almost constantly so she won't miss anything'
1990: 'She is constantly on the go, trying to explore and understand everything. Her vocabulary is growing, with her favorite words being Daddy, Mommy, and clock'
To explain this next part: my Dad was gone for the first six months after I was born because he was on a ship somewhere.
And it says: 'Katie is delighted to have her Daddy home, but still seems to think he is going to disappear again'
1991: 'She loves to sing and play piano, but she usually puts the music upside down'
1994: 'We carpool with another family to school, whose two sons tease her a lot. She loves it most of the time and says she wants big brothers, but sometimes they are too much for her. One day she asked if big brothers acted like that. When told that they often did, she said, "I think I will just borrow Nathan and Aaron".
'...Glen was the best man in the wedding. Katie thought that she should have been included in the wedding. Of course, she also thought Karen'sd beagle should have been included.'
The 1995 letter tells me that when I was in first grade I lost my two front teeth...LMAO! And my parents taught me 'All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth'!!!
The '99 letter says 'Katie is not happy about wearing braces, but they should come off soon'.
I just got my braces off last week. What year is it? 2007?!?!? Hahaha!
Aaah good times. :D

Okay so I just opened presents and I wasn't really that excited cause I thought I knew everything I was getting. But omg I got a portable DVD player!!! It's so awesome. Now I can have something to do during the freaking long trip to West Virginia WHICH, by the way, I'm going on RIGHT AFTER THE CHRISTMAS CAMP. Like, get home, get in the car, and go. We did this once before, during fall. I hate it. I'm gonna be so sore and stuck in the car and then bored out of my mind RAWRAWRAWR!
But anyway, I also got some books, a smaller suitcase that matches my huge red one (which my Mom is telling me I should take to Europe when I go with Emily in the summer, and I'm like...thirteen days worth of clothes, plus toiletries, plus stuff to do, then all the room I'm going to need for the stuff I buy? No way. Not happening). Lol
And I got a penguin ornament thats like a little stuffed animal, and a Gamecube game and some comics and OMG oh yeah this bathrobe that I'm wearing right now that is SO COMFORTABLE. It's so cute, too, it's got three different shades of pink stripes with little white stripes in between them and it feels like I'm wearing CLOUDS!!! :D
So it was a better Christmas present-wise than I thought it would be. Except I stayed up till 4 am last night so I'm gonna be so out of whack with my sleeping by the Christmas Camp. Blah. I'm going to go to bed at eleven tonight and get up at eight thirty so I'm kind of ready to get up at the crack of dawn the next few days.
Hopefully I'll get some pictures uploaded onto here. Though I looked pretty crappy this morning so maybe not Christmas pictures.
OMG and Magic got a toy too! We gave it to her first and she loved it. I have all these adorable pictures of her playing with it. She already ripped one of the ears off. Jerk! Lol

Okay so ever since I can remember I've had this video (yes, video, not DVD) Snowden On Ice. It's a holiday musical on ice, starring some famous ice skaters such as Scott Hamilton, Kurt Browning, and Ekaterina Gordeeva. It's a cute story and I like watching ice skating (my parents do, too, which is why they got the tape).
But I've been searching online for the soundtrack. No luck. I've been searching for even the song list. Found one on some tiny website. Any lyrics? Nope. On the back of the tape's box it tells me a couple of the singers, but not the songs they sing. And all the songs were made just for the movie.
And here's the thing: it's an unknown movie. Completely unknown. Like, in searching it on the internet, there's no official site, no fansites. Nothing but a Yahoo movies page and an IMBD page. Nothing on Limewire. Nowhere!
And it makes me sad because I really like the songs and I'd really like to have them on my iPod. But I guess thats not going to happen. *frowny face*

Just had another one of my depressing worries about my parents. I was talking to my mom and told her she looked good for being almost sixty, and then asked her how old my dog was in dog years, and she said 'she's about seventy'. To which I said 'well then I don't like comparing dog years to people years because obviously dogs don't fall apart and stop moving well at seventy'.
Then I of course connected the fact that my mom was nearly sixty and realized that she only had about ten - and I say ten because at the best she has twenty and at the worst she has like two - years left until she starts really feeling the effects of old age.
I don't want to only have my parents for another ten or twenty years. It's not fair - other people my age will have them for twenty or thirty. *sigh* I hate it when I think this stuff. But I can't help it - my Dad has sleep apnia and some thing where he gets food lodged in his throat sometimes and has to go throw it up, and he eats too much, and my Mom's back hurts her a lot and she's always sick from perfume and she gets these really bad choking coughs sometimes that scare me.

Magic is cute. But she woke me up this morning. Then I was trying to curl up to get away from her and shoved her off the bed accidentally. So then I had to make sure she was okay, which she was of course, but I felt bad. So she essentially guilted me out of bed this morning.
But I survived yesterday's nine hour guard practice. Yey! And now I'm talking to Kay and Cass, who is a beast at Beast, as I told her.
AND I made a new character bio!!! Lewis Guthrie!!! EVERYONE should go comment about the app and then stamp me!!!!

Oh and Ren told me how she and CKpants met today and IT IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUUUUUUUUUUUTEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO CUTE that I totally saved the e-mail so I can read it later and squee some more about it. It just made me love them like ten times more. :)

It's all guard's fault again. It makes my life miserable. It's a super long story, but pretty much I was excused from practice because of a chorus concert, then I get a call that I should have come to the first fifteen minutes of practice, to which I say 'No, Color Guard was over at 5:30, so I would have had half an hour to go home, change, pin my dress, get myself food, and do my make-up'. To which I was told I should have brought my clothes with me to school that day, done my homework at practice, and not eaten dinner. Bullshit.
It's one stupid fucking practice, we aren't even learning the show yet, we're just doing stretching and warm-up shit, which I have NO USE FOR WHATSOEVER. God. And Color Guard practice before that was terrible too. I've never been yelled at so bad in guard before. I can now officially say that my coach dislikes me, and along with the assistant coach, likes to find every little thing I do wrong and yell at me awfully for it. I have no pride in anything I do in guard, because I'm never good enough.
So their phone call two minutes before I had to be in the chorus room meant I looked like a mess with bloodshot eyes when I went in, too. God, why does everyone feel like it's okay and even entertaining to treat me like dirt?
Everyone except church friends and online friends. I wanted to call Ren or CK after I got off the phone with the coach but I was already a couple minutes late. And plus I sound ridiculous when I cry.
*sigh* Five months. Only five months.

Yesterday SUCKED. I repeat, yesterday SUCKED. Loooong story. But I'll sum it up.
So pretty much I missed all of practice to drive around and try to find a way to get to this guys house with all this construction going on and ended up not being able to get there. Didnt have his number and got lost three times.
Then got rear-ended on my way back to school. Which made me sooo much more stressed.
I had already missed all of practice, and when I called to find out what time we were leaving on the buses for the game, I'm told 'We're leaving in ten minutes'. I was 20 minutes away. So I'm rushing, and I tell them to get my uniform and my flags. So she tells my friend, who tells the two Freshmen to count the flags and make sure we have them all. They don't. So we show up and I have no flags. So since I have solos in the first two songs, I did those and then this Freshman girl did the third song.
Then the band director comes and yells at us for not telling them, and was all 'Whos flags were they?' and I tried to explain and he got all mad and yelled 'Whos flags were they?!' and I was like 'Mine, I guess.' I was so mad. So my friends and I ranted the entire way back to the school about being yelled at and about people in band being lazy and looking stupid and making us look bad. Then we ranted about the football team sucking and just about everything else.
But we went to Buffalo Wild Wings after that and I had teriyaki boneless wings and it was good. So I was okay. Then this morning I slept in, and now I'm okay.
By the way, my car is okay. It's scratched up on the bumper but okay. I dunno how much it'll cost the guy who hit me yet, my Mom's reporting it today.
Boy am I GLAD yesterday is OVER! Lol.

So today’s competition was a waste. All that work; ALL DAY; just to have it be postponed and then cancelled because of the weather. What crap. Wasted my entire Saturday for nothing. And it was my last chance to have a competition at my school. This blows.
And I got the same negative ‘special treatment’ I always get – singled out, yelled at for things that don’t merit yelling, the same things that if Emily or Tamarah do, they get nicely corrected. It’s bullshit. Stephanie (my coach) might have listened to the letter I wrote a little bit, but Erin, the assistant coach, obviously decided it was a sign to be even worse to me.
Screw all this. And I have to do Winter Guard because when Erin found out Janet wasn’t planning on doing it, she vented about how awful that was to all of us. She yelled at me for telling Janet how awful Color Guard was being, and I talked back to her for once. I’m not going to stand for this shit anymore. When Emily talks back to Erin, Erin apologizes, because she thinks Emily is God. So fuck this. I don’t care how much money I put into Winter Guard, if this shit gets any worse I’ll drop out.
And today Emily told me that yesterday, at practice, that Emily told Erin that it was obvious that Erin and Stephanie treat me worse than they do her, and Erin said ‘that’s because you’re doing your job’. BULLSHIT. That just pisses me off SOOOOO MUCH. I’m doing my goddamn fucking job. GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!
Remind me why the fuck I do this again?
*cries*
*deep breath* It's only four months. Then I'll never have to deal with it again; I'll go to college and none of it will matter. It'll be behind me.
God, I can't wait.
